Boarding Policies and Procedures

Our business hours are as follows:

Monday – Saturday  9:00am - 12:00pm and 2:00pm - 6:00pm

Sunday                   2:00pm – 6:00pm

We thank all our clients for observing our business hours.  Maintaining regular business hours and a regular schedule for our care routine helps us in promoting a healthy environment and reducing stress for the pets at our facility.

The times our office is closed to the public allows for staff to spend uninterrupted quality time with the animals (providing some of our extra services such as leashed walks around the property, group playtimes, exit baths, etc.).  It allows us to prioritize animal care at the times of the day when they need us the most such as the busy morning feeding time.  lt also offers a chance for designated rest periods for the animals without the excitement of incoming/outgoing guests.

Cancellation Policy

We do not require deposits for bookings, and therefore, we ask that we receive at least 24 hours' notice of a cancellation. If two or more "no shows" occur on a client's account, we will request a 50% deposit upon booking for subsequent stays.

Vaccination Requirements

If adequate proof of vaccinations is not provided upon drop off, your pet will NOT be permitted to stay at our facility. Without vaccinations, your pet is at risk, as are the staff and the other pets staying at the kennel.

We require the following vaccinations for Dogs:

DAPP (Parvovirus/Distemper), 1 or 3 year

Bordetella (Canine Cough) – Recommended every 6-10months, nasally

Rabies, 1 or 3 year

We require the following vaccinations for Cats:

Combination vaccine (FVRCP - Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia ), 1 year

Chlamydophila (Pneumonitis), 1 year  *Recommended but not required

Feline Leukemia (FeLV), 1 year

Rabies, 1 year +

We do accept titre testing as an alternative to vaccinations. Ask your veterinarian if this is an option. Animals coming to the kennel must be vaccinated at least 5 days before entering the facility to ensure that there are no reactions to the vaccine and that the vaccine has taken effect.

Rules for Animals Sharing Kennels

Animals from the same family, or two families where the pets have sufficient contact with one another, can be kenneled together. If the pets have ever shown ANY sign of aggression towards each other they will NOT be boarded together. This includes, but is not limited to, territorial aggression, resource guarding, food aggression or re-directed aggression.

If pets are not able to eat in the same vicinity, i.e. they are allergic to each other’s food, one is free fed and the other is not, or one pet eats faster than another, another kennel must be booked for feeding time. Additional charges for the extra kennel will apply.

Rules for Group Play

We offer group play to the pets staying at our facility. We ask each owner to fill out a personality profile, and we do an evaluation of the pet to determine his/her eligibility and temperament for group play. We attempt to find compatible playmates for pets at our facility with similar temperament, size and age. However, it is not always possible to do so. We do not guarantee that we will be able to admit pets to group play times. If dogs are not permitted, or compatible playmates have not been found, animals will be exercised individually with a staff member.

Under NO circumstances are intact pets over 6 months allowed in group play.

If an animal has shown ANY sign of aggression towards other pets or people, he/she will not be admitted to group play.

Separation Anxiety

If an animal has separation anxiety, he/she can disrupt the entire kennel. Continuous barking, soft stool, anorexia, or other potentially hazardous behaviors will be noted and discussed with the owner or emergency contact. We may require the animal to be picked up early if we determine that the animal may cause harm to itself or the other animals at the kennel.

We offer a desensitization program to help animals become comfortable with the kennel environment, but this requires a commitment from the owner as well as the staff at the kennel. This can be discussed with a manager if kenneling is a priority to the owner. Solutions will be offered to the owner, but if there is no improvement, we will not permit the animal to stay with us for the safety and health of themselves and the other animals at the kennel.

Kenneling is not necessarily for every animal. Pet sitting can be a good alternative for dogs and cats with separation anxiety. Our staff can direct you to an appropriate service provider if this is the case for your animal.

Aggression

Aggression towards staff members from people or dogs will not be tolerated. If a pet has shown aggression towards our staff members, including growling, snapping, exuberant jumping or mounting, or biting, your emergency contact will be notified and asked to come pick up the animal. If the pet is not a direct threat, but has shown signs of aggression, we will discuss options with the owner upon pick up.
